Fair Street International Academy was selected as one of over 70 elementary schools in the country to participate in the launch of a new online musical  training program for teachers.

Stage Connect is an expansion of the Disney Musicals in Schools Program. The experience is free and aims to equip teachers with the resources to produce a Disney KIDS musical. Through  the program, Fair Street International Academy will receive professional development,

educational materials and free performance rights to stage a Disney KIDS musical during the 2025–26 school year.

Participating schools have the opportunity to choose from popular Disney titles including 101 Dalmatians, Aladdin, The Aristocats, Finding Nemo, Frozen, The Jungle Book, The Lion King and Winnie the Pooh.

“Stage Connect expands Disney Musicals in Schools to kids across the country in a whole new way,” Lisa Mitchell, Director of Education and Audience Engagement, Disney Theatrical Group said. “We can’t wait to see the creativity that unfolds on school stages as educators and students bring beloved Disney stories to life in a way that only they can.”

The program features demonstration videos, downloadable resources, and live webinars hosted by artists from Broadway’s The Lion King and Disney Teaching Artists.

“Being selected to participate in Disney’s Stage Connect program is an incredible honor for Fair Street International Academy,” Denise Haltrecht, Fair Street International Academy Principal  said. “As principal, I deeply value the arts as a powerful way to inspire learning, self-expression, and connection. This opportunity allows all of our learners to share their voices through the universal language of music and storytelling. Through the magic of The Lion King, our students will build confidence, creativity, and collaboration while celebrating the diverse cultures that make our school so special. This experience beautifully reflects our mission to develop globally minded, compassionate, and resilient learners ready to make a positive difference in their world.”

Launched by Disney Theatrical Group in 2010, Disney Musicals in Schools has reached over 100,000 students  in public elementary schools across the US and UK. The Stage Connect online expansion aims to eliminate geographic barriers, expanding opportunity to schools and communities nationwide.

“As a proud Fair Street alumna and Director of our Drama Club, it’s an incredible honor to lead more than 60 young performers in our production of The Lion King this year,” Tyson Hill, Paraprofessional and Drama Club Director at the school said. “Being selected for Disney’s Stage Connect program connects us with industry professionals and community partners, including the Brenau University Dance Department here in Gainesville, GA. The organizations who help our students experience the magic of learning through the arts and allowing students to take risks, discover their voices and inspire them to grow. This partnership with Disney’s Stage Connect shows how theater strengthens academics by building focus, collaboration, and confidence, proving that creativity and achievement truly go hand in hand.”
