The Hall County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an argument where an individual brandished a handgun following a high school football game on Thursday.
Hall County Schools previously reported that after a football game between FBHS and Cedar Shoals High School Thursday, an unidentified individual threatened football players from Cedar Shoals in the parking lot outside of the stadium.
According to the initial investigation by HCSO, two male individuals followed the Cedar Shoals High School football team from the field to its locker area at FBHS following the game with Flowery Branch. The individuals’ faces were covered, and they were wearing black hoodies.
The agency says the unknown individuals argued with and threatened individuals from the Cedar Shoals team near the locker area in a parking lot.
Coaches from Cedar Shoals stepped in to diffuse the situation and attempted to get the individuals to leave. One of the unknown individuals then brandished a handgun.
An Athens-Clarke County School Police Officer began approaching them, and the two individuals fled. The officer gave chase but did not find the suspects. An HCSO K9 team initiated a track for the individuals while HCSO School Resource Offices and investigators responded to the lot. The initial search for the individuals was unsuccessful, the department said.
While no threats were made to Flowery Branch High School or its students, there was increased law enforcement on campus Friday.
HCSO investigators continue to investigate the case. Anyone with information on the suspect identities or whereabouts can contact investigators at (770) 503-3232 OR intelrequest@ hallcounty.org.
