WHITE COUNTY, Ga. — White County emergency personnel made their third mountain rescue of the week on Saturday after a hiker experienced a medical emergency at Dukes Creek Falls.

Just after noon on October 25, units from White County Fire Department, White County Emergency Medical Services, and Helen Fire Department were dispatched to the popular hiking trail off Richard Russell Scenic Highway.

According to White County Public Safety Spokesman Bryce Barrett, rescuers reached the patient within 30 minutes of the initial call. The hiker was stabilized on scene and carried out to an awaiting AirLife helicopter for transport to a medical facility.

All county and city units cleared the scene by 1:35 p.m. No additional details about the hiker’s condition have been released.

Two rescues earlier in the week involved hikers who fell and were injured in separate incidents on Mount Yonah.
