Week 8 of the 2025 NFL season rolls on and the action will continue with an NFC South showdown featuring the Tampa Bay Buccaneers visiting the New Orleans Saints at 4:05 p.m. ET on FOX.
The Saints’ offense was a mess last Sunday and they struggled in a 26-14 road loss to the Bears that dropped them to 1-6 for the season. But hey, they at least got a productive afternoon out of tight end Juwan Johnson for the first time in roughly a month.
Below, we’ll go over Johnson’s outlook in fantasy football for Week 8.
Fantasy Football analysis: Saints TE Juwan Johnson
Johnson caught five of seven targets for 79 yards in last week’s loss to the Bears, finishing as the second-leading receiver in the entire game. It was the first time that the veteran had gone over 50 yards since Week 3, which was also the last game where he had crossed double-digit fantasy points in PPR leagues.
The veteran is currently sits as a top-15 fantasy tight end ahead of today’s showdown, significantly exceeding expectations as he entered the season with an ADP in the 30’s in all scoring formats. Johnson ranks in the top-10 in several stats like routes run, target share, receptions, and yards, but his lack of touchdowns has kept him below the elite tier of fantasy tight ends. We’ll see if that changes in this divisional showdown against the Bucs.

Start. Tampa Bay’s defense has been relatively generous against opposing tight ends, giving up 39 receptions for 318 yards and four touchdowns to the tune of 8.0 fantasy points per game. I’d imagine that Spencer Rattler will continue to try to feed him easy targets over the middle and who knows, he might score his second touchdown of the year. If you need a reliable tight end in a week with so many byes, then Johnson is definitely a solid option to go with.
