A longtime business owner, community servant and public official for Gainesville, who would later become the city’s first ever elected mayor, has died.

Gainesville city officials confirmed with AccessWDUN that Danny Dunagan passed away late Wednesday.  Dunagan had been dealing with lengthy health issues that left him to recently resign from his second stint serving as at Gainesville City Council member.

Dunagan, the longtime owner of the Three D Dry Cleaners and Laundry for over 40 years, had sold the business earlier this year, to spend more time with his family.

Future arrangements for Danny Dunagan will be posted online, with an obituary, here at AccessWDUN.
