Buford and Jackson County are Columbus-bound after taking series wins on Monday in the second round of the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) softball playoffs.
Buford (32-0) routed Grovetown 9-0 and 10-0 in Class 6A, allowing just a single hit in both games. Caroline Stanton homered and pitched a complete game in the opener ,and Addie Rackley did the same in the second game.
The Lady Wolves will take on the winner of the North Cobb-Carrollton series on October 29 at the Olympic Softball Complex in Columbus. Those two teams split their games on Monday and will have a Game 3 on Tuesday.
Jackson County (20-5) swept Lanier 12-7 and 9-4 in Hoschton in Class 5A to advance. Sofia McCafferty drove in four runs on a pair of doubles in the first game and added two more hits and another RBI in the clincher.
The Lady Panthers will get Region 2 champion Houston County on October 29 in Columbus. Houston County swept South Paulding in two games on Monday.
North Forsyth’s bid to advance in Class 6A came to an end on Monday. The Lady Raiders were swept out by North Paulding, 14-8 and 11-3, at home.
Classes 3A, 2A, and Class A D1 will open their second round series on Wednesday.
