A Chicago mother’s baby delivery came with a special proposal.
Challis Bell, 28, had just welcomed her first child with boyfriend Denzel Kimbrough, 30, on Friday, Oct. 10 when she was met with a heartwarming surprise — a special question printed on their newborn’s onesie that read, “Mommy, will you marry Daddy?”
“I looked over and he was on one knee,” Bell told Fox 32 Chicago. “I was shocked.”
The couple shared a video of the special moment with the outlet, which showed a nurse at Advocate Christ Medical Center slipping the child into his new clothes created just for the engagement. She then brought the child over to the new mom, who appeared confused at first by what was happening.

Bell could be heard asking, “What? What does that say?,” before Kimbrough, clad in a gray suit, could be seen stepping forward to her bedside while holding a ring case. He then got down on one knee, and it took a few seconds before Bell finally noticed him and realized what was happening.
A shocked Bell could be seen looking at Kimbrough and her loved ones speechless, before she finally answered, “Oh my god! Yes.”
Her new fiancé could be seen standing back up and placing the ring on her left finger, while she mused, “What the heck?” The stunned mom then examined her ring.

She continued to stay dazed for a few moments before the nurse brought her newborn child — named Ace — back into her arms. Family members could be heard laughing in the background as they watched the scene unfold.
Kimbrough told Fox 32 Chicago that he had known for some time that he wanted Bell to become his wife. He shared to the outlet that they had met more than a decade ago while attending the same high school in Chicago’s south side and lost touch after his family moved away.

However, mutual friends eventually reconnected the pair three years ago, and the rest is history. The new dad told the outlet, “Since she came back into my life, I knew I wanted to marry her.”

So, he enlisted the help of the hospital staff to pull off the surprise proposal, which went off without a hitch. He and his new fiancée told Fox 32 Chicago that they were thankful to the Advocate Christ Medical Center for their care and helping them with the special engagement.
They shared that they had since returned home with their newborn and look forward to planning their nuptials.
