Northeast Georgia Physicians Group (NGPG) Chestnut Mountain is getting a new addition to their team.

Shaina Alleyne, MD, earned her bachelor’s degree from Howard University in Washington, D.C., before getting her medical degree from Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta. She completed her residency training with Northeast Georgia Medical Center’s Graduate Medical Education program in Gainesville.

According to NGPG, Dr. Alleyne told her mom at 4-year-old that she wanted to be a doctor so she could “make medicine that tastes like bubble gum and grape juice for children with cancer.”

“Caring for children and adolescents into adulthood is something that’s always been close to my heart,” Dr. Alleyne said. “Family medicine gives me the chance to do that, while also caring for their parents and grandparents. It’s such a privilege to walk with entire families through every stage of life.”

That desire to care is what she’s bringing to the Chestnut Mountain community.

“Although I was born in New York, most of my childhood was spent in Decatur and Lithonia, so this area really is home for me,” Dr. Alleyne said. “That’s why I’ve made it a point to get involved in the community by volunteering with local non-profits like Good News Clinics and Mercy Matters and teaching health education programs in local schools.”

NGPG Chestnut Mountain is open Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 4754 Martin Road in Flowery Branch.

You can call (770) 848-9130 to schedule an appointment, or go to ngpg.org/alleyne to learn more.
