The cult-favorite parody franchise Scary Movie is back—and production for its sixth installment has officially kicked off in Atlanta, Georgia. Filming began on October 1, 2025 and is based out of Tyler Perry Studios with Hylton Casting handling the background casting duties ( Extras Casting Atlanta (ECA) handled background casting for previous Scary Movies). Fans can expect plenty of laughs, horror spoofs, and the return of some beloved characters when Scary Movie 6 hits theaters on June 12, 2026.
Regina Hall Confirms Filming Is Underway
Regina Hall, reprising her iconic role as Brenda Meeks, recently confirmed that cameras started rolling on October 1. Speaking with Today, Hall teased her return with a classic Brenda-style quip:
“Well, it started filming on October 1st. You know if I do, I’m gonna come back. But you can’t kill Brenda.”
Hall will once again share the screen with Anna Faris, who is returning as Cindy Campbell, bringing back one of the franchise’s most memorable duos.
The Wayans Brothers Reunite
A major highlight for longtime fans is the reunion of the Wayans brothers—Marlon, Shawn, and Keenen Ivory—who are back to write and produce the film alongside Rick Alvarez and Neal H. Moritz. Michael Tiddes takes the director’s chair, while Jonathan Glickman and Alexandra Loewy serve as executive producers.
In a joint statement when the project was announced, Faris and Hall expressed their excitement:
“We can’t wait to bring Brenda and Cindy back to life and be reunited with our great friends Keenen, Shawn and Marlon — three men we’d literally die for (in Brenda’s case, again).”
What Horror Films Will Be Spoofed?
Marlon Wayans hinted at what fans might see spoofed this time around. During an interview with ComicBook.com, he revealed a wide range of inspirations, from classics to recent hits:
“We plan on having a field day,” Wayans said. “There are just so many great horror films to pull from.”
The Legacy of Scary Movie
The franchise first burst onto the scene in 2000 with its debut film, which grossed $42 million domestically. Since then, Scary Movie has become known for spoofing box office hits like The Exorcist, The Ring, The Sixth Sense, The Blair Witch Project, and of course, Scream.
With Scary Movie 6 on the horizon, the series looks ready to carry on its legacy of mixing outrageous comedy with clever horror references.
