*Researchers at the University of Georgia are warning residents in the southeast about the reemergence of the invasive Asian needle ant species. Its venom is a “significant danger” for those with allergies to other insects like wasps or yellowjackets, they say. And with ant populations peaking in the warmer months, they want people to be ready to identify this risky pest which tends to live in wooded areas with leaf litter, rocks, dead logs and other damp environments, including firewood piles and tree bark. *A woman is suffering from serious injuries after her teen daughter ran over her in a Cobb County school pick-up/drop-off line. WSB-TV reports officials are investigating why the teen was at the wheel when the accident happened at Brumby Elementary School Wednesday.
*A ten-year-old boy is dead in Augusta after being shot in the head reportedly by his four-year-old siste and their mother has been charged with second-degree murder. Officials say De’Angelo Roberson and his younger siblings were left in the car Tuesday while their mother went inside a convenience store, and his four-year-old sister found the gun inside their mother’s purse.
