Smoke from that huge south Georgia wildfire is headed in our direction. If fact, you might be able to see some of it already. It was already visible in parts of metro Atlanta by noon.

“Heavy smoke and a strong smell of burning,” are terms being used to describe the situation in Atlanta.

Though there are scores of much smaller blazes around the state, the biggie is the one that had, at last report, covered 16,000 acres in three southeast Georgia counties along or near the Florida line.

The air quality, meanwhile, in north Georgia and parts of central Georgia is good. But south of an Augusta-Macon-Columbus line it’s much worse.

South of that Augusta-Macon-Columbus line the Georgia For Commission has issued a 30-day mandatory “no burn” order.
