*U.S. Attorney William Keyes says “Operation Sweet Silence,” a multi-agency, multi-year operation, has dismantled a multi-gang criminal operation that “terrorized” Columbus for the past decade. Thirty people were arrested and 119 firearms and $20 million worth of drugs were seized.
*Several agencies continue to fight a south Georgia wildfire that has now grown to at least 4,000 acres. Clinch County EMA Director Andrew Nelson the blaze which started Saturday is only about ten percent contained. He tells WALB officials want residents to pack essential items and ensure their families are ready to evacuate quickly, if needed. He says those living outside of the immediate area will see smoke and haze start to spread across south Georgia in the coming days.
