Kate Hudson and Hugh Jackman Admiring Each Other Over the Past Year Is Friendship Goals (Exclusive)

This week alone, Kate Hudson gushed over Hugh Jackman’s “superpower” (no, it’s not rapid regeneration healing like his Wolverine character), while Jackman proclaimed Hudson will win her first Oscar very soon.

The mutual public admiration between Hudson, 46, and Jackman, 57, began in December 2024 when they wrapped filming on Song Sung Blue — in which they play members of a Neil Diamond tribute band.

“What a work hubby,” Hudson wrote in an Instagram caption a year ago for a post featuring behind-the-scenes photos of herself and the Marvel star.

In a separate Instagram post the following day, Jackman returned the compliment to the Running Point star, writing, “You are one of one.”

Most recently, an entire year later, the acting duo continued showering each other with kudos about their on-screen performances.

While speaking with PEOPLE in a joint interview at the 2025 Gotham Awards on Dec. 1, the Almost Famous actress hyped up Jackman.

“His superpower is to connect, whether it’s onstage, whether it’s on set, whether it’s with anyone and everyone. He just wants to connect and he wants to make sure that everyone’s happy,” she explained, before addressing Jackman beside her. “And at the same time, I learned that one of the greatest gifts that you can give people is that you actually have a desire to connect to them, and I think you give that to everybody.”

“This is so nice. Thank you,” the Deadpool & Wolverine star replied, before directing some kind words back at his Song Sung Blue costar.

“I learned a lot from Kate,” he explained. “I’ve done almost 50 films, but, somehow, working with Kate — it’s a very difficult thing to describe but the mixture of being prepared and just being instinctive is a really fine line and no one does it better than Kate Hudson.”

Jackman added, “Being with her … I think I became a better actor.”

Earlier that night, while accepting the Musical Tribute award, he told the audience that Hudson’s performance is Academy Award-worthy.

“Kate Hudson is not only one of the great stars of our business, she is a consummate actor,” Jackman said onstage next to Hudson.

“I believe this time she is going to get an Oscar,” he continued.

A day later, on Dec. 2, Jackman shared a video on Instagram of himself praising Hudson’s “method” acting, describing it as “so good.”

Meanwhile, in April, Hudson once again shouted out her “work husband.”

“Loved every second making this beautiful film, working with the most lovely work husband you could ask for, @thehughjackman, singing the iconic songs of Neil Diamond,” she wrote on Instagram.

Song Sung Blue is in theaters on Dec. 25.
