“Because the city and local poultry industry recognize the need for outstanding young men and women to continue the City’s legacy as ‘Poultry Capital of the World,’ the Gainesville Chicken Festival Scholarship Fund supports college students pursuing a degree in poultry science or a related agricultural field,” a city Facebook posting reads.

The opportunity is open to graduating high school seniors or current college students in Georgia pursuing a career in the poultry industry. Scholarship funding comes from sponsors of the annual Gainesville Chicken Festival. The scholarship is administered by the North Georgia Community Foundation.
