The first set of data has been released by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources for Memorial Day weekend boating activity.
At approximately 4:40 p.m. on Saturday, a 7-year-old juvenile sustained an injury to her right leg after being thrown from a personal watercraft on Lake Hartwell.
The operator of the vehicle was an 18-year-old male who had not completed the state’s boating education requirements and did not register the vehicle.
The operator was cited and the juvenile was transported to a hospital in Lavonia with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Georgia DNR said updated numbers will be released throughout the holiday weekend.
