*A lawsuit was filed Monday night on the eve of Georgia’s primary elections by a lieutenant governor candidate against the secretary of state who is running for governor. Fox 5 reports State Sen. Greg Dolezal filed the lawsuit to force election officials to allow bipartisan observers inside the state’s election night operations center. But Brad Raffensperger’s office responded by saying that votes are handled at the local county level rather than the central operations room.
*Two Rockdale County deputies are facing criminal charges. The sheriff’s office fired a probationary employee for allegedly using excessive force on an inmate at the jail. He’s facing charges of aggravated assault and battery. A second deputy is on leave for an eavesdropping and peeping tom arrest.
*Two dozen suspects are facing charges in an east Georgia gang investigation. The Richmond County sheriff’s office reported Monday that 24 people had been arrested during a campaign called Operation Red Recoil May 12-16. Agents also seized close to 30 guns.
*Atlanta is at the top of the pack for sports business. That’s according to the Sports Business Journal, which just named Atlanta as the best sports business city in the country, just ahead of New York City. The journal noted Atlanta’s world-class venues.
