“This extraordinary celebration, occurring once in a generation, offers our community an opportunity to reflect upon the history of America, to honor the sacrifices made by those who preceded us, and to inspire a sense of civic pride, unity, and engagement for future generations,” stated Mayor Josh Turner.
The Cleveland Celebrates America 250 Committee is chaired by Lacy Turner, the First Lady of Cleveland, with Councilmembers Nan Bowen and Annie Sutton, Mrs. Ansley McClure, and Mrs. Haley McDonald serving as Co-Chairs.
The committee is supported by the following individuals:
– Kevin Harris, City Manager – Administrative Director and primary point of contact for the City
– Lisa Ritchie, City Clerk – Secretary and official record keeper
– John Solmon, Finance Director – Treasurer
This leadership team collectively brings extensive experience in public service, education, public safety, faith leadership, civic engagement, and community development.
The committee has been intentionally designed to be broad, inclusive, and representative of both the Cleveland and White County communities. Its membership encompasses city and county officials, public safety leaders, educators, historians, leaders from business and civic organizations, university representatives, faith leaders from all churches within the city limits, and community members. This diverse composition ensures that the America 250 celebration reflects a multitude of voices and perspectives while honoring our shared history and community values.
