FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ga. — A 5-year-old girl was seriously injured Monday evening when a utility terrain vehicle overturned on private property in Franklin County.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, troopers from Post 52 in Hartwell responded to the crash around 7:31 p.m. on April 13 at 3434 Georgia Highway 51.
Preliminary findings show a green Can-Am BRP UTV was traveling south through a pasture when it overturned. Investigators said the vehicle was being driven by a 7-year-old boy, with a 5-year-old girl riding as a passenger.
The girl was trapped underneath the UTV and suffered serious injuries to her lower extremities, said GSP Sgt. J.R. Dean. She was airlifted to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta for treatment.
Dean said no charges will be filed in connection with the crash. Authorities are withholding the children’s names.
