The 2026 recipients of a Gainesville High School honorary diploma were revealed and recognized at a luncheon recently in the Sammy Smith Media Center at the school. Dr. Robert Bruner and Bryson Worley will be formally recognized during Gainesville High’s commencement ceremony May 22 at City Park Stadium.

Dr. Bruner, a dentist in Gainesville for more than 35 years, has spent decades providing free dental care to those in need through the Good News Clinics. He is also well-known for leading Boy Scout Troop 16 where he helped more than 250 young men from our area reach the rank of Eagle Scout.

Worley spent 15 years at Gainesville High School, first as a special education teacher, then as assistant principal. He also headed up the Red Elephants’ boys golf program, which he led to eight region championships and two state championships.
