Through each full week of sports in the school year, we’ll recognize the Teams of the Week, brought to you by Cofield Outdoors!
Football – Jefferson Dragons
The only team left…it’s the Dragons even if several teams were still in it. Jefferson pulled out a gritty 17-13 win over undefeated West Laurens in the Semifinals to get back to the Benz. They did it with an unbelievable defense and just enough offense, proving they can win any type of game.
Girls Basketball – Dawson County Lady Tigers
Dawson County got a huge win over Blessed Trinity, 43-27. It was the lone game of the week, but the Lady Tigers have now won two in a row and are 5-2 overall on the season, with a top-10 state ranking.
Boys Basketball – Commerce Tigers
Commerce went 2-1 this week, falling to a great Lanier team after moving their overall record to 5-0 prior to that. One of those wins came at home against #7-ranked Franklin County. Essien Lockleer had 37 points for #4-ranked Commerce, and they are DEEP and TALENTED.
