Franklin County’s Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) is working with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) to determine the reason for a man’s death at a Royston residence this week.

A press release from Franklin County Sheriff Scott Andrews says they were called to a report of an unresponsive individual at Salem Road on Wednesday, November 12. Upon arrival, deputies found one individual with a gunshot wound.  Life resuscitation efforts were ineffective and the individual was pronounced dead at the scene.

FCSO officials then called the GBI through standard protocol for assistance with the death investigation. Sheriff Andrews said in the release that the identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Sheriff Andrews says further details behind the victim’s death are not available at this time to preserve integrity of the investigation. Andrews added, “Our office is committed to ensuring a thorough and transparent investigation.  We appreciate the GBI’s assistance and ask for patience as investigators work to determine the facts.”
