On Monday, the New York Giants fired head coach Brian Daboll, turning to Mike Kafka as the team’s interim coach.

Now another change is coming.

According to multiple reports, the Giants are elevating veteran backup Jameis Winston to the No. 2 spot and he is expected to start this weekend against the Green Bay Packers. The move comes as rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart remains in the concussion protocol after leaving last Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears, a game the Giants lost in the closing minutes.

Interim head coach Kafka informed Winston and fellow veteran Russell Wilson of the move earlier this week.

Dart remains in the concussion protocol after leaving Sunday’s game against the Bears, and is in the concussion protocol for the fourth time during his rookie season. After he exited the game against Chicago, Wilson stepped into the lineup and completed 3-of-7 passes for 45 yards, but he was sacked twice during his time on the field.

Now if Dart cannot go, it will be Winston taking the snaps for the Giants.
