Two Lilburn men attempted to flee and were arrested after a lengthy chase in Forsyth County.
According to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO), the chase occurred in the early morning hours of Oct. 24.
FCSO says that they witnessed a driver failing to maintain his lane, and attempted a traffic stop.
That driver was 25-year-old Hussein Zirjawi of Lilburn. A passenger in the vehicle, 27-year-old Meesan Abbas of Lilburn had an active warrant for a probation violation out of Gwinnett County.
A video posted by the department shows a chase that started in a residential area off of Windermere Parkway south of Cumming that went out onto the main road.
The driver initially slowed down and turned into the residential area, seemingly ceding to law enforcement.
Zirjawi kept going through the residential area at a slow pace initially, however, before speeding through.
The deputy initially attempted a PIT maneuver, taking the vehicles bumper off but was unsuccessful. The driver became more erratic, and law enforcement backed off, hoping they would leave the residential area.
Zirjawi eventually left the residential area, going out onto Windermere Parkway the wrong way initially. More deputies were in pursuit by that point, and the driver crossed back over, going the wrong way on the parkway.
After another PIT maneuver, Zirjawi ended up going through the grass median to evade deputies, before another unsuccessful PIT maneuver. A fourth attempt could be seen with another civilian car nearby, and deputies eventually pinned Zirjawi and Abbas in. When Zirjawi tried to back up, a deputy slammed into the driver’s side door, finally subduing the vehicle. Both men put their hands up and they were subsequently arrested.
Abbas is currently in the Gwinnett County Jail without bond for his probation violation.
Zirjawi faces a 14 charges in the Forsyth County Jail, including:
